NoPause for YouTube
Privacy, permissions, and how to use the extension that keeps long videos playing—without the “Video paused. Continue watching?” interruption.
What this extension does
NoPause for YouTube has a single purpose: when YouTube shows the “Video paused. Continue watching?” or “Are you still watching?” dialog, the extension detects it and continues playback for you—so long streams and playlists keep going without an extra click.
It only runs on youtube.com and m.youtube.com. It does not read your Google account, sell data, or send what you watch to our servers.

Install & usage
The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store. You do not need Developer mode or “Load unpacked”—install it like any other store extension.
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for NoPause for YouTube.
- Click Add to Chrome (wording may vary slightly by browser).
- Confirm the permission prompt when asked.
- Optional: click the puzzle icon in the toolbar and pin NoPause for YouTube so the popup stays one click away.
Microsoft Edge: you can install many Chrome Web Store extensions after allowing other stores (Edge → Extensions → “Allow extensions from other stores”), then follow the same steps.
Open a video on YouTube (desktop or mobile site).
Click the extension icon and keep “Auto-continue playback” turned on unless you want to pause the feature.
If the tab is YouTube, the popup shows enabled/disabled status for that tab.
Tips
- If a tab is in the background or the window is minimized, checks run on an interval (about every 30 seconds). The prompt may take a short moment to clear—this is normal.
- You may see a “Thanks for confirming” toast from YouTube after continuing; that comes from YouTube, not from the extension.
- Console messages prefixed with
[NoPause]are from the extension when it dismisses a dialog.

No personal data collection by the developer
NoPause for YouTube does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to GhostFaceCalvin or third-party analytics. Processing happens on your device to operate the extension. We do not sell user data or use your data for advertising.
What is stored locally
Chrome’s storage API (sync) may save your preferences: whether auto-continue is on or off, and popup appearance (system / light / dark). If you use Chrome Sync, Google may sync those settings across your devices—the same as other extensions. We do not receive a copy of those settings on our servers.
What we do not do
- No remote code: all logic ships inside the extension package.
- No uploading of page content, watch history, or video titles to us.
- No ads injected by this extension.
Changes to this policy
If the extension’s data practices change materially, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Permissions
Each permission exists only to support the features above—not to track you.
activeTab
Used when you open the popup on a YouTube tab so your on/off choice applies immediately without reloading the page. We do not read unrelated tab data.
alarms
Schedules a periodic check (about every 30 seconds) so the extension can still find and dismiss the dialog when the tab is in the background or the window is minimized.
scripting
Injects small functions bundled with the extension (for example visibility handling and dialog checks). Nothing is downloaded from the network at runtime.
storage
Saves your toggle and theme preferences. May sync via Chrome Sync if you have it enabled—Google’s sync, not a custom server of ours.
Host access
Limited to https://www.youtube.com/* and https://m.youtube.com/* so scripts run only on YouTube. The extension does not run on other sites.
