SPF/DKIM/DMARC Checker

Check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for any domain to verify email authentication.

Understanding Email Authentication

Email authentication is a set of security protocols that help verify that emails are sent from legitimate sources and haven't been tampered with during transmission. These protocols protect against email spoofing, phishing attacks, and spam by allowing receiving mail servers to verify the authenticity of incoming emails.

The three main email authentication protocols are SPF (Sender Policy Framework), DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail), and DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance). Together, they form a comprehensive defense system that helps protect both senders and recipients from email-based threats.

Our email checker allows you to verify the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for any domain, helping you understand the email security posture of domains you interact with or manage.

How Email Authentication Works

SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

SPF records specify which mail servers are authorized to send emails on behalf of a domain. When an email is received, the recipient's mail server checks the SPF record to verify the sending server is authorized. This prevents unauthorized servers from sending emails that appear to come from your domain.

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)

DKIM adds a digital signature to outgoing emails using cryptographic keys. The signature is verified by the recipient's mail server using public keys published in DNS records. This ensures the email hasn't been modified during transit and confirms it came from the claimed domain.

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication)

DMARC builds on SPF and DKIM by providing a policy that tells receiving mail servers what to do with emails that fail authentication. It also provides reporting mechanisms so domain owners can monitor authentication failures and identify potential abuse.

Why Check Email Authentication Records?

Domain Security Audits

Verify that your domain has proper email authentication records configured. This helps ensure your emails are delivered successfully and aren't marked as spam.

Troubleshooting Email Delivery

If emails aren't being delivered or are going to spam, checking authentication records helps identify configuration issues that may be causing problems.

Verifying Sender Legitimacy

Before trusting emails from unknown senders, check their domain's authentication records to verify they're properly configured and legitimate.

Compliance and Best Practices

Many organizations require proper email authentication for security compliance. Checking records helps ensure you meet these requirements.
